This system can be configured to allow staff with poor eyesight or hearing impairment to work effectively.

System overview

One of the unique features of the CAUK 1100 nurse call system is the solid state recorded voice announcement facility. This feature can be switched on or off depending on the clients preferences. When there is a call on the system a recorded female voice will gently announce to all staff via the corridor speakers the correct room to go to, and the priority. This allows the caring staff to go directly to the source of the call without having to go to a fixed display to learn the location of the call. This facility can be turned off at night and the night staff can use the alpha numerical pocket pagers to receive calls.

Recorded voice announcements:

Another benefit of the recorded voice announcements is that it meets the needs of partially sighted staff. Room identity messages are stored in the memory; these can be tailored to the clients' requirements. The system can be supplied with the clients' choice of language or dual language if needed at additional cost. These messages can be "assistance required in room number 57?" or "emergency in room 85?" or to the clients' specification. The standard system has the capacity to deal with 254 rooms.

Voice messages storage:

The voice information is stored on a removable SD Memory Card. This method of storage has been provided so that any changes to the messages or attention tones can be carried out by Call Aid UK at their premises to maintain the professional quality of the announcements. An external access slot for the memory card is located on the side of the MPU housing.

Global audio/visual panic alerts

The global audio/visual panic alerts are activated whenever a panic button is pressed anywhere in the building. A panic alert message indicating the location of the emergency will be displayed on every nurse controller unit. A recorded voice announcement via the announcement speaker system in the corridors will alert all staff in the building that a panic button has been activated and the precise location of the emergency.

Solid state adjustments

The system adjustments are solid state and can be controlled from the in-house computer; this includes volume controls for all the audio inputs/outputs. The attention tones and panic tones have various sound options and these are also adjustable. Speakers can be turned on or off in the four available zones. Treble and base are also adjustable to suit the acoustics of the building. The Public Address microphone volume is also adjustable to suit the operators' voice.

Day & night volume adjustments

The global volume levels of the system announcements can be programmed to be reduced at night.

Induction hearing loop:

The master processor unit has been greatly enhanced to increase the choices available to the Nursing Home and to the care centre developers. The induction hearing loop output will feed calls for assistance to induction loop amplifiers located in staff areas or around the whole building (staff use).
